Mike Dee, CFA
Mike is responsible for all Portfolio Management, Investment Research and Trading. His love of investing began in the first grade when his great grandfather, who was an avid investor, began to teach him. For Christmas in 1982, he gave Mike $1,000 to work with and Mike’s first investment was Delmarva Power & Light. A few months later, Mike received a dividend check from DP&L for $40. The light went on and he found his calling.
Mike holds a BBA from UT Austin and an MBA from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Mike is a CFA charter holder. He has over twenty years of experience in the investment business that began with an internship in the trade clearing department at Wilmington Trust. He moved to Houston where he worked as a Cash Manager for institutional clients at Fayez Sarofim & Co. prior to graduate school. But, it was his graduate internship for a Registered Investment Advisor firm where he really began to shine, eventually heading up the investment committee. Mike missed Texas, so he moved back to Houston in 2006, where he went to work in a small but fast-growing family office. As the firm grew, Mike gained more responsibility and eventually managed the investments of four limited partnerships and a foundation. As part of his management approach, he employed three separate global macro strategies. In addition, he was in charge of cash management for over 300 trusts and entities. In 2017, he left the family office to focus on refining his strategies and to start his own firm. When he’s not crunching numbers and watching the market, Mike steps into his other passion – animal rescue. Mike has a heart for all animals but especially dogs, and he fosters and contributes to animal rescue groups regularly. When he is not playing with his pups, Stevie Ray and Little Hattie, he enjoys weightlifting, playing guitar and watching his beloved Longhorns.
